GELANG PATAH – The highly anticipated Johor Golf Expo 2024 (JGE 2024), will kick off with the exciting Junior International Golf Tournament scheduled for four days from 2 October, this event will spotlight 60 of the most promising young golfers from Malaysia and beyond, showcasing their talent on an international stage.
Ranging in age from 9 to 18, these budding athletes represent the National Junior Development Programme (NJDP) and the Johor Development Programme (JDP), laying the groundwork for the next generation of golf stars.

The tournament aims to nurture and inspire young golfers by providing them with the opportunity to compete in a prestigious event that could significantly influence their future careers.
Recognized by the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), this tournament offers winners the chance to earn crucial WAGR points, marking an important milestone in their path toward professional golf.

Additionally, competitors will vie for a shared prize pool of RM1,000, with the top five finishers in each of the three categories receiving recognition awards. All participants will also walk away with special giPs.
In an exciting twist, tournament winners will have the exclusive opportunity to play alongside professional golfers, gaining firsthand insights into the professional golf world. This unique experience is designed to deepen their understanding of the sport and refine their skills.
“Every tournament is an opportunity for these junior golfers to showcase their abilities to the world,” said Lee William Haldane, Director of Golf for Champions Golf and Head Coach of Profesional Golf Association (PGA) Level 3.
Haldane, who personally oversees the training of these young athletes through an advanced golf camp, emphasized, “For juniors, this is a chance to catch the eye of top universities and secure scholarships through strong performances. My mo[o for them is always: ‘Never give up, as you never know what opportunities lie ahead.’”

The tournament is not just about competition; it’s about creating pathways for young golfers to excel.
With university scouts in attendance, standout performances could open doors to prestigious golf programs. “The more experience young players gain, the better they handle pressure, especially in major tournaments,” Haldane noted.
Following the junior tournament, JGE 2024 will continue with its main event for 3 days from October 18th, organised by Kumpulan Prasarana Rakyat Johor Sdn Bhd (KPRJ) through its subsidiary KPRJ Sports Sdn Bhd, alongside Champions Golf.

The expo will feature a range of activities for the public, including exhibitions and seminars with over 70 exhibitors from both local and international markets, showcasing new business opportunities and innovations in the golf industry.
